About Alentejo Heritage

Alentejo Heritage was born in September 2018 with the aim to develop thematic tours on the local heritage, through the eyes of an anthropologist, expert in Alentejo ethnography.

Besides guided tours in the most touristic places in the region, such as the historical city center of Évora, Elvas, Monsaraz and Arraiolos, Alentejo Heritage aims to be a reference for tours on non-touristic places, like the unique heritage of some villages and towns where regional life simply happens. This is only possible with our deep knowledge of the place. In each tour we aim to allow you to experience the best and most genuine features of regional life.

It is very important to us that our guests retain good memories and contribute to the appreciation and dissemination of our heritage. We want to be a special link in the tourism industry, as well as work toward local sustainability. That is why we engage in responsible tourism and are aware of the cultural and ecological characteristics of the region. We are sure that those who visit us will have an enriching human experience that will expand their horizons.

Our thematic tours are designed to allow you to get in touch with different cultural themes, such as landscape, water, cork, clay, gastronomy, among others.

Since guided tours are a seasonal business and because we love our handicrafts, Alentejo Heritage has opened a regional handicraft shop in Arraiolos - a town known for the Arraiolos Rugs - which is open all year round, offering a wide range of traditional items, including the utilitarian pottery to supply the demand of our local population.
