Castelo de Vide Highlights
From water to jewish history
Highlights: Castelo de Vide is known as Sintra of Alentejo due to the fact that it is a mountain town and has a lot of water and monumental fountains, making this combination in the regional context a singularity. In this visit we do an interpretation of aquatic allegories in monumental fountains, as well as their symbolic importance, revealing ancestral knowledge about water. Then we visit the old Jewish Quarter where we go back into Jewish history in Portugal. We pass by the Arçário House where jews were taxed and finish with a visit in the restored Synagogue and the Castle where a medieval atmosphere is still possible to feel.
Special: Taste the “boleima”, a pastry of Jewish heritage. Lunch at a local restaurant.
