Hiking Divôr River
From history and culture to environment and gastronomy

Highlights: This tour starts at an abandoned train station, following an ecological path on the old railway. In this tour we are surrounded by beautiful landscapes to enjoy with cork oak and holm oak trees, as well as water mills along the Divor River. At some stopping points we interpret the landscape using the history and ethnography of the region, which will help us to better understand the Alentejo environment. Halfway there is a 16th century bridge. We continue on the trail along the river where we visit old hydraulic infrastructures. Near the end we visit a Roman bridge and then the last stop will be at the Roman Temple in Santana do Campo, where we'll have a typical meal at a local restaurant.

Special: Mediterranean cuisine in a local restaurant. Non-touristy places.

Main attractions: Cork oak tree and holm oak tree forests and large natural granite rocks. Landscape interpretation. Abandoned train station. 16th century bridge. Roman bridge. Roman temple. Typical food in a local restaurant.
